Volunteers wanted

We are always on the lookout for volunteers to help with our educational sessions. This might involve helping out with Children’s Activity Days, which are usually on Thursdays during the Summer holidays; Special Event Days, which take place at weekends, once or twice a month during the season; and educational visits by school groups during term times.

We are looking for people who would enjoy working with children in a fun, relaxed, and purposeful atmosphere, who would be prepared to volunteer on a regular basis (though this is unlikely to be more than 1 to 2 days a month), and who would be confident in working with groups on their own.

Activity and Special Event days usually just involve helping children and families with ‘make and take’ activities. For school sessions, thorough training and induction will be provided, and volunteers will only be given tasks they feel confident with. The groups would usually consist of less than 15 children, generally aged between 5 and 11. A CRB check would be carried out by the Museum, as standard practice.

If you would like to find out more about this opportunity, please contact the Education Officer at the Museum, Chris Leuchars, on 01223 860988, or email education@farmlandmuseum.org.uk .
